How many people in groups courses?

We keep our groups small for Kitesurfing lessons, we normally have 2-3 students per instructor. Most schools will run with 4 per instructor but we believe this is slightly too many for a good lesson to be carried out. We also offer 1-2-1 instruction for a slightly higher fee although this does mean a lot more time hands on.

What is your Cancellation policy?

We need wind to run courses (see wind and weather below), if we find ourselves with unusable wind conditions then we will rebook your course for a time that suits you, we are unable to offer any refunds under any curcumstances for cancelled courses, we are available 7 days a week for most of the year so we will be able to rebook you quickly. If you need to move your course we ask for 7 days notice, we have limited spaces on courses so we need to make sure they are all full especially on weekends. If you cancel your and request a different course date within 7 days you will forfeit you course/lesson as we will be unable to refill that space.

What wind and weather do we need?

We need 10 Knots of wind to fly kites on Day 1 and 12 or more Knots of wind for you to enjoy your Day 2. We will teach in any safe conditions as long as it 's windy. we cannot teach in zero wind conditions or offshore winds and will not try. Hillhead is open to winds from the Northwest, West, Southwest, South and Southeast. We can teach in any of these directions because we will have smooth, gust free and safe winds. We cannot teach when the wind is blowing from the North or East. The wind coming from the North and East will be offshore making it dangerous to teach. The wind will also be gusty and unpredictable. As we do need wind for our lessons there is always the chance your lesson will be rebooked, we will rebook when it suits you but we will not be able to give any refunds on courses for lack of wind. Even more info

To run Kitesurfing lessons we need the right conditions to come together to make it safe and enjoyable, the
tide, wind direction and wind speed play a major part.

We need to run our kitesurf courses at low ride, at low tide we have shallow flat water to run our
lessons making it safe and easier to learn how to kitesurf.

We are ideally looking for 10 - 25 knots of wind so that we have just enough power in
our kites to be able to get up on a board and ride

The ideal wind direction to learn kitesurfing in is cross-onshore, we can also use cross shore
and onshore.

We supply all equipment needed you just need to bring a towel, something to wear under your
supplied wetsuit (swimsuit) and some lunch/water.

Our 'Day 1' kitesurfing lesson is aimed at the complete beginner so no previous
kite flying or board sport experience is needed.

We run courses between March and october, the water temp out of these months is too low
to make kitesurf lessons enjoyable for you.

Hampshire Kitesurf Lessons are normally between 3-6 hours depending on wind and tide.

See our Kitesurfing Lessons page for more info.

All of our kitesurf school instructors are BKSA or IKO qualified.

Our kitesurfing centre is located 20 mins from Portsmouth and 30 mins from Southampton, it's also
just an hour from the London m25.

We supply all kite surf equipment needed for your kitesurfing lesson. All you need to bring on your kitesurfing lesson is
some food, some water, something to wear under your wetsuit and a towel.

We buy new kitesurf kites and boards every year so you will be using the latest and best kiteboarding gear on your lesson.

Kitesurfing lesson gift vouchers can be redeemed against any of our kitesurf lessons in our school.
